JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mayor Donna Deegan honored her friendly bet with the Buffalo mayor by sending a truck-load of Mayport shrimp and a monetary donation to a local food bank.
The shrimp is from H&S Shrimp, a family-owned Jacksonville company that’s been in business since 1959. It’s also owned by a Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department firefighter.
While we would have loved for our Jaguars to continue their amazing season, we’re proud to share a taste of Jacksonville with our friends in Buffalo," Deegan said. “Mayport shrimp is world-class, and there’s no better representative of our city’s maritime heritage than H&S Shrimp. I hope Mayor Ryan and the people of Buffalo enjoy this delicious reminder of what makes Jacksonville special.”
As part of the bet, Mayor Sean Ryan donated $500 to Feeding Northeast Florida, but he won’t be sending any buffalo wings.
