Because the officers exchanged gunfire, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting
Gauntlett said the street, cruiser and home were peppered with dozens of bullets.
"It's downright frustrating for law enforcement to be dealing with suspects of this nature," Gauntlett said.
The shooter has not been identified, but police said he has an ongoing dispute with the residents of the home. The residents, a father and his two teenage sons, are being interviewed by investigators.
No one else was injured in the shooting.
