JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a man was killed in a hit-and-run on the city’s Northwest side on Saturday.
Sgt. Robert Hungerford said at 5:46 p.m. on Vernon Road, southeast of Edgewood Avenue, an elderly man was struck by a Dodge vehicle that left the scene without rendering aid or reporting the incident.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue took the man to a hospital, where he died.
JSO said they are looking for a Dodge vehicle, but they aren’t sure if it’s an SUV or a sedan.
This is the fifth traffic fatality and the third involving a pedestrian in 2026.
