JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Wolfson High School student was convicted Tuesday evening on charges of possession of a firearm on school grounds and aggravated assault.
In June 2011, then-17-year-old Shyheim Morris brought a gun to school and gave it to another student to use in an armed robbery, prosecutors said.

They said when the gun was returned to Morris, he brought it back to campus. As police were trying to apprehend the teen, Morris pointed and racked the gun at an unarmed security guard who was close to catching him, prosecutors said.
Morris fled from the school and was later arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
"This defendant made a dangerous choice to bring a loaded handgun to school and assist another student in an armed robbery," said Assistant State Attorney Alex King. "When faced with another choice after being cornered by an unarmed security guard, he chose to use that gun to threaten a life in the hope of escaping instead of accepting responsibility for his actions."
Morris faces 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced Sept. 21.
