Ex-teacher gets 40 years for molesting boy

Christopher Bacca enters court for a hearing on charges of sexual battery of a minor.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A former Duval County elementary school teacher pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of attempted capital sexual battery and one count of lewd molestation of a child younger than 12.

Christopher Bacca, 27, was subsequently sentenced to 40 years in prison and lifetime sex offender probation.

Six other charges were dropped.

The charges stemmed from Bacca's relationship with a boy he knew. It was never known if the boy was a student of his, but the incidents took place at the boy's home.

Prosecutors said all along there were no other victims.

Bacca was a one-time "Teacher of the Year" at Long Branch Elementary School, and "Teacher of the Year" at Windy Hill Elementary.
