Motorcyclist injured after crashing into cruiser

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist was injured Wednesday morning after crashing into a police cruiser on Interstate 295 heading northbound near the Pritchard Road exit, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said an off-duty officer in a police cruiser that had its lights on and was slowing down to assist a motorist on the side of the road just after 6 a.m.

Traffic homicide was investigating the incident, which is standard procedure when a Sheriff's Office vehicle is involved. The motorcyclist's injuries are said to be non-life-threatening.

Motorists traveling experienced delays until the incident was cleared just before 9 a.m.
