JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a warm and muggy morning with temperatures in the 70s, temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s this afternoon.
Widespread showers and storms will develop in the afternoon and evening. Heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty wind will be possible in any storm. Isolated instances of flooding will be possible, especially for locations that see several rounds of showers and storms.
Make sure to keep an eye to the sky and storms could develop rapidly. Activity will eventually dissipate later in the evening.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy and warm with temperatures in the 70s.
Thursday will feature a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 90s.
Rain and storm coverage will increase later this week and weekend as tropical moisture pushes back into our region. Temperatures will be seasonable with highs near 90 degrees.
Regarding the drought, the latest drought monitor reflects improvement across our area. Several areas have been downgraded to a moderate and severe drought which reflects the rainfall we saw over the past week.
