JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 49-year-old man who plead guilty last fall to identity theft and aiding the attempted passing of counterfeit checks was sentenced to 20 month in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard.
Taylor was a passenger in a car that was stopped by the Florida Highway Patrol on Interstate 95 on Feb. 26, 2014. When asked for identification, Taylor provided an identification card saying he was L.C. Troopers said he revealed his true identity after questioning.

According to court documents, on February 26, 2014, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle Jasper Shields was driving on Interstate 95 in Duval County. Larry Bernard Taylor was a passenger in the vehicle. When asked for identification, Taylor identified himself as L.C. and provided a Florida Identification Card to the FHP trooper in the name of L.C. After further questioning, Taylor admitted his true identity.
After the driver, Jasper Shields subsequently, consented to a vehicle search, troopers four 12 counterfeit business checks purportedly issued from Walgreens. The checks were made out in various amounts to three different payees.
On Feb. 2, Shields was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for his role in the scheme to pass counterfeit business checks and for violating his supervised release.
