Mother of slain man pleads for answers

29-year-old, another man gunned down in Springfield apartment in November

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The mother of a 29-year-old man killed in Springfield late last year is frustrated his killer has yet to be caught.

Stefan Robinson was shot in the head in an apartment on Cottage Avenue in November, along with another 29-year-old man: Malcolm Baker.

Robinson's mom, Stephanie Johnson, is still rattled and said she's received few answers in the case. She wants an arrest but so far nothing has come of the investigation.

Johnson has pleaded with police for answers but so far has come up with very few in her attempts to find closure for a hurting Fernandina Beach family that doesn't know why Robinson was one of two murdered that night.

"I called her three weeks ago and she said ... 'Ms. Johnson there's some progress in Stefan's case,' and I didn't call her anymore, but really there's nothing," Johnson said.

Police had Johnson sit down and go through a book of mugshots after the shooting. She went through page after page of pictures. She said she recognized many faces and started referring to each potential suspect as a page, based on where they were in the book.

"Page 5 went to JSO after he came and viewed my son's body the day of the funeral," Johnson said. "All pages was on the corner on 11th street -- looking at the hearse."

But police still have no suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call JSO or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
