Mathews Bridge reopens after crash


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mathews Bridge reopened Wednesday night after a car accident with injuries shut down all of the westbound lanes.

The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. and traffic was brought to a stand still as the Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a car broke down while headed westbound across the bridge and was rear-ended by another vehicle.

The driver of the broken down car was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with minor injuries as a precaution.
