JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Homicide detectives are looking for two shooters after a triple shooting Thursday afternoon at 1204 Odessa St.
Jacksonville Sheriff''s Sgt. Dan Jansen said one victim was a young man found dead on the front porch of an abandoned home about 1:40 p.m.
The mother of the victim fatally shot identified him to News4Jax as Avery McKnight Jr., 19.
The other two victims, Darien Sulph, 20, and Charles Thomas, 41, were taken to UF Health Jacksonville.
"I have a detective at the hospital now interviewing those two individuals to see if they can tie the relationship to this scene," Jansen said.
A witness told police two men approached the victims on foot and started shooting.
Another witness said a dark-colored Toyota Camry drove by the intersection once and then returned and stopped at Odessa and Franklin streets. At that time, the rear passenger window rolled down and the barrel of a rifle extended from the window, held by a black man, according to the witness.
Witness said they heard several shots and then saw people running in different directions.
"We believe they had a car parked around the corner and took off. It was probably that dark-colored Camry," Jansen said.
Police found blood trail at an abandoned home and are looking for evidence and more witnesses.
