Police seized computer, recording equipment and cell phones
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – An Interlachen man was arrested Friday afternoon after a search warrant was served at his residence.
Threasa Owens, major crimes detective, arrested and charged Roger Lee Hoyt, 34, with 10 counts of possession and distribution of child pornography. Hoyt is presently being held in the Putnam County Jail on $17,540 bond.
In addition to Hoyt’s arrest, police also seized various pieces of computer and recording equipment and cell phones.
The investigation into Hoyt’s computer activities began when Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Detective William Patten notified Putnam County Criminal Investigative Division, Lt. Ricky Lyle that he was investigating a child pornography website, and noticed a computer address assigned to Hoyt’s residence.
Lyle assigned the investigation to Owens. Detectives Patten and Owens were able to establish that a large amount of child pornography had been downloaded to Hoyt’s computer.
Last Friday, Owens presented the evidence to Judge Clyde Wolfe who issued the search warrant for Hoyt’s address. The search warrant was served to Hoyt on Friday afternoon at his home.
Following the search, Hoyt was taken to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed, arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail without incident.
