Possible gunshot reported near 2 schools in Windy Hill

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office looking for 2 young men seen leaving area

Police are investigating after a loud noise -- possibly a gunshot -- was heard early Thursday morning near two elementary schools off Beach Boulevard near Forest Boulevard.

There were no injuries, but Windy Hill Elementary and Blessed Trinity Catholic School were placed on lockdown as a precaution after receiving a report of a possible gunshot at 7:30 a.m.

"We have officers at both schools; everything is fine right now," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Robert Hacksunda said.

Police are looking for two teenagers leaving the scene just after the sound was reported.

The two were described as a white male and black male between 15 and 20 years old. The white male was wearing a tank top and possibly blue pajama pants. The black male was wearing a white T-shirt and gray shorts.

News4Jax was told that the lockdown at Blessed Trinity was lifted at 9 a.m. an the lockdown at Windy Hill was lifted about 30 minutes later.
