4 injured in head-on crash in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Four people have serious injures following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Brunswick, authorities said.

The wreck was reported about 2 p.m. at County Road 17 and Needwood Road.

A woman, who was at the intersection when it happened, told News4Jax that she heard a loud boom then turned around and saw two cards badly damaged.

From what witnesses told her, a woman driving the gray car crossed the line, and hit the red car head-on.

Inside the red car, she said there were three women, believed to be sisters visiting the area from Jefferson, Georgia.

Witnesses told the woman who News4Jax spoke to that the driver of the gray car had been swerving for miles before the accident happened.

They said they were not sure if the driver was having a medical emergency.

The witness told News4Jax that when first responders arrived, it took an hour and a half to get one of the women out of the red car, and that all three of the women inside had serious injuries.

She talked about the moment she stepped in to help.

"When we arrived up on the scene of these two cars, they were saying they couldn’t breathe because of the airbags. So I took my switchblade and I started busting them. And we got them out of the way and we busted one window, trying to, because we thought it was on fire. We didn’t know it was all the airbags," said Milli Dixon, who responded to the crash.

At last check, all four victims are in the hospital recovering.
