Man arrested in Philips Highway shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man accused of shooting a 23-year-old man in the leg off of Philips Highway last year was arrested after turning himself in to police Wednesday.

Mario Petit-Homme, 38, of Jacksonville is charged with second-degree attempted murder, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened about 12:40 p.m. Oct. 9 on Philips Highway near Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, police said.

Officers responded to the area after gunfire was reported and found the victim shot. He was taken to a hospital in stable condition. 

Philips Highway was shut down in both directions for several hours while officers, including K-9 teams, searched for the shooter.

Petit-Homme is being held on a $150,000 bond at the Duval County Jail, jail records show.
