PALATKA, Fla. – A three-month drug investigation in Putnam County resulted in the arrest Friday morning of a 52-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman.
James Williams is charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of opium derivative with intent to distribute and manufacture of methamphetamine.
Angela Gaskin is charged with possession of cocaine and violation of probation, which she was on because of a previous drug arrest.
Members of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, including the SWAT and Rifle Security Teams, executed a narcotics related search early Friday morning on Gaskin Road in Palatka.
During the investigation that led to the search warrant, detectives determined that Williams was dealing in multiple forms of narcotics. Detectives found Gaskin, Williams and two other men on the property.
During the search of the home, detectives seized approximately 27 grams of cocaine, nine grams of crystal methamphetamine, 32 doses of prescription narcotics, a used device for cooking meth and several other items used in the manufacture of meth.
The seized drugs have a street value of approximately $4,500.
Because the investigation revealed information suggesting that Williams buried the proceeds of illegal drug sales in the yard, metal detectors and ground-penetrating radar were used to search for hidden money, but no buried money was found, deputies said.
Williams is being held in the Putnam County jail on a bond of $40,000. Gaskin is being held without bond.
