HILLIARD, Fla. – A boil water notice issued Tuesday for residents of Hilliard in Nassau County has been canceled.

The precautionary advisory was put into effect after a water main broke at Henry Smith Road and County Road 108, the town's Public Works Director David Thompson said.

Residents were advised to use bottled water or bring water to a rolling boil of one minute prior to using for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes.

The notice remained in effect until the water main was repaired and a bacteriological survey showed that the water is safe to drink. The order was rescinded just before 1 p.m. Thursday
