Jacksonville police arrested a 27-year-old man in the April shooting of a Popeyes employee that reportedly occurred over the cost of a meal.

Tyrone John Pastures was booked Wednesday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder into the Duval County jail, where he's being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, jail records show.

The case number and circumstances detailed in the 27-year-old's arrest report match those contained within the initial incident report from the shooting.

The shooting happened about 9 p.m. at the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen at the fast food restaurant on North Edgewood Avenue off West Beaver Street.

That's where a would-be customer got into a spat with an employee and then pulled out a handgun and shot the employee in the groin, police said.

Police said the customer wanted to go inside the restaurant but was directed to use the drive-thru instead. Irked by the cost of his order, the man punched the employee and then shot him, police said.

Several witnesses told police the shooter then fled in a dark-colored, older model Ford pickup.

The employee was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, but was expected to recover from his injuries.
