PALM BAY, Fla. – The National Weather Service confirmed Sunday that a tornado touched down in Palm Bay Sunday morning destroying six mobile homes.
Palm Bay police said that six trailers on Indian River Drive were destroyed during the dangerous weather.
Weather Service officials in Miami said an EF 0 touchdown was responsible for the destruction. Tornados are rated by intensity on the Enhanced Fujita scale or EF-Scale. An EF 0 twister can bring up to 85 mph winds.
A 93-year-old man who refused to evacuate was there when the destruction took place, officials said. He was not injured.
