Man found stabbed to death in Pine Forest home

Jacksonville police investigate deadly stabbing in home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found dead early Friday morning inside a home on Kelly Street. Jacksonville's Pine Forest neighborhood.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office was sent to the home, not far from Philips Highway and Emerson Street, just after midnight and found a man between the age of 40 and 50 inside the home with several stab wounds to his upper body.

He was taken to Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Investigators said the man was the only person inside the home when police arrived, although they believe there were more people there earlier in the night. Detectives were trying to locate the other people live at the home.

Steve Baxley, who owns the house, said the tenant who was renting the home where the stabbing occurred called him early Friday morning

"He was afraid and he wanted to move because of the altercations inside," Baxley said.

News4Jax spoke with neighbors who said there was loud music coming from the house when they went to bed. They woke up to officers knocking on their door looking for answers.

One neighbor said there was frequently a lot of activity late at night at the house.

"They started drinking and they have a tendency to want to play the music at night," said one person who did not want to be identified.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call police or, to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
