JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis was in Jacksonville on Monday to talk about Hurricane Ian relief.
At an afternoon news conference, she announced more than $45 million has been raised so far for the Florida Disaster Fund.
She made the announcement at Adamec Harley-Davidson of Baymeadows, which is donating money from T-shirt sales.
The wife of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said the state won’t finish until everybody affected by Ian is back on their feet and recovering.
“Being on the ground and talking to a lot of folks, they lived in areas where they didn’t think they needed flood insurance. This was a 500-year flood, and they’re looking for pathways to be able to rebuild,” she said. “With the $45 million that we’re doing, we’re going to ensure we can help them every way we can to get them back on their feet.”
