12-year-old Camden County student accused of threatening to shoot up school, deputies say

CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – A 12-year-old Camden County student was arrested and accused of threatening to incite a school shooting, according to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

A school resources manager got word that the juvenile student at Camden County Middle School sent text messages insinuating that they wanted to shoot up the school, deputies said.

A school resource officer was notified, and deputies responded to the student’s home to take them into custody on Thursday, since they were not at school that day.

“We take every threat to our schools seriously, regardless of age or intent,” Sheriff Kevin Chaney said. Thanks to the quick actions of those who reported this information, we were able to address the situation promptly and protect our students and staff."
