JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An Amber Alert issued for a missing 13-year-old girl out of Baxley, Georgia, just north of Waycross, was canceled Friday after she was found safe at a motel in Jacksonville.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued the Amber Alert, which is known as Levi’s Call in the state, on Thursday around 2 p.m. after, according to a news release from the Baxley Police Department, the department received a call that the teen was forcefully taken from her home on Thursday.

The release said Giavonnie Carter, who was identified as the teen’s biological mother, was banging on the door of a home on James Drive with a knife in her hand.
According to the release, Carter and Johnathan Kelly entered the home and took the teen, whom police said Carter did not have legal custody of.
With assistance from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the teen was found safe at the Scottish Inn on Phillips Highway around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Carter and Kelly have been charged with kidnapping and home invasion. Carter also faces charges of aggravated assault and other offenses, while Kelly has been charged with probation violation and additional offenses by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
