Security guard shot, killed in strip club parking lot, family says

Will Chrisman died after trying to break up fight inside club, friends say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 33-year-old man was shot and killed early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a Westside strip club, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The man, who was identified as Will Chrisman, was a father and military veteran, family members told News4Jax.

Loved ones said Chrisman worked as a security guard at Flash Dancers Gentlemen's Club on Blanding Boulevard at San Juan Avenue. Chrisman was trying to break up a huge fight that broke out about 1 a.m. inside the club after a man hit one of the dancers, according to friends.

Police said the altercation carried out into the parking lot, where a gunman and another man got into a vehicle then shot Chrisman as they were driving away.

Chrisman was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Homicide detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video from inside the club. Investigators said there were several persons of interest, but no suspects were identified.

Chrisman’s wife asked that the family have privacy during this difficult time. But loved ones are hoping the surveillance images will bring justice.

Anyone with information about the deadly shooting is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
