Pedestrian killed after vehicle leaves I-95, crashes onto Lem Turner Road: FHP

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A crash Sunday evening on Interstate 95 northbound ended with a vehicle leaving the interstate and striking a pedestrian on Lem Turner Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP said the vehicle traveled off I-95 onto the shoulder, went down an embankment and onto Lem Turner Road, where a pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk. Troopers said the vehicle hit the pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

FHP previously said two people were in the vehicle. One person died and another was taken to the hospital, but troopers have now clarified the person who died was the pedestrian.

FHP says the cause of the crash is under investigation.
