No one hurt after car crashes into medical office waiting room in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – No one was hurt after a car crashed into the waiting room of a medical office Friday afternoon in St. Johns County.

The crash happened at a Flagler Health+ specialty care office in the Murabella shopping center off State Road 16.

The driver told News4Jax she accidentally hit the gas pedal when she meant to hit the break before she crashed through the window.

“Obviously was just an accident. And we’re grateful for St. Johns County Fire Rescue for their quick response. There was only one person in the building at the time, and thankfully, no one was injured,” said Erin Wallner, Administrator, Flagler Health+.

Michael Papovitch works nearby and heard the crash.

“It was kind of like a big, like, a big bang. Like somebody fell through the ceiling and kind of caught us off guard. We’re just sitting there working and nobody was in the store with us. It was just kind of like weird sounding,” he said. “We were concerned. Like we were trying to make sure if they were coming, if everyone was okay, but we saw her come out. She was kind of like crying she was seemed really scared and nervous.”

It wasn’t immediately clear the cost of the damage caused.

The driver will not face criminal charges but a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the driver did get a traffic ticket.
