2-year-old expected to survive after accidental shooting, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 2-year-old was shot late Wednesday night inside a home in Arlington, according to Jacksonville police.

Lt. Silcox told reporters police were dispatched to a home on International Village Drive just after 11:30 p.m. the 2-year-old inside with a gunshot wound.

Several people were in the home, but police did not say if the child accidentally shot himself or herself or if someone else in the home did. Police are calling it an accidental shooting.

Silcox also did not say where the child was shot or how many times but said the injuries are non-life-threatening. When asked by reporters if anyone in the home would be charged, Silcox said JSO will coordinate with the State Attorney’s Office.

The shooting was among four shootings JSO was called to within four hours Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
