Darryl Willie sworn-in as next chairman of Duval County School Board

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – During its scheduled Tuesday evening meeting, the Duval County School Board unanimously approved Darryl Willie to become its next board chairman.

As noted on the Duval County Public Schools website, Willie was a military child and comes from a family of educators and was a teacher himself. He taught in both K-12 and university settings.

Willie, who was serving as vice chair on the board, has experience with recruiting, selecting and training new teachers and education leaders for Title 1 schools.

Taking the seat as the new vice chair is Dr. Kelly Coker, who was voted in unanimously. According to DCPS, she began her career as a middle school teacher, served as principal of two middle schools and was recently assistant superintendent, to name some of her achievements.
