Young girl stabbed in critical condition, Orange Park police say
ORANGE PARK, Fla. – A suspect was arrested in connection with the stabbing Wednesday of a young girl at an apartment complex in Orange Park, police said Thursday.
The suspect is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to the Orange Park Police Department .
Clay County Fire Rescue said it was called around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to the St. Johns Pointe Apartment Homes on Old Orange Park Road. Police said that they responded to the scene, as well, and that the child stabbed was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
As of Wednesday evening, according to police, the child, who was said to be older than 9, was in critical but stable condition.
Video from the scene appeared to show a young boy in handcuffs. The Police Department confirmed a young boy was detained for questioning at the scene. It was not immediately clear if he was the suspect arrested.
