Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp hit the diamond Saturday night to honor the life and career of baseball’s most iconic-trailblazing figures, Jackie Robinson.

The team paid tribute by rocking the Jax Red Caps uniforms, which were worn in the Negro American League from 1938 until 1942. The Shrimp won 7-5 over the Gwinnett Stripers at 121 Financial Ballpark, continuing their winning streak.

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson made his big league debut and became the first Black major league baseball player of the modern era. Just last week, the MLB celebrated the 75th anniversary of his debut.
