JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A judge on Thursday sentenced a former Duval County teacher to five years and 10 months in prison for possessing images and videos depicting sexual abuse of children, according to a news release from the Department of Justice.

Additionally, the court ordered Michael Paul Gillis, 65, to serve a 10-year term of supervised release, register as a sex offender and forfeit his computer media, the DOJ said. He had pleaded guilty to charges on April 27 after being arrested at his Westside home by FBI agents in February.

The news release states that the investigation revealed agents were investigating people who were using a particular online network to share abuse materials. It said Gillis had accessed the network from his home.

During the execution of the search warrant, the DOJ said, FBI personnel seized several computers belonging to Gillis that contained at least 2,000 images and 150 videos depicting infants, toddlers, and other young children being sexually abused.
