Man sentenced to 10 years after fiery, fatal crash last year on Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man plead guilty to vehicular homicide and was sentenced to 10 years after his role in a deadly 2021 crash on the Northside.

One person was killed and another person was injured in the two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in August 2021, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said a Dodge Charger driven by Christian Yuma, 31, was traveling north on Harts Road shortly after 2:30 a.m. when a Nissan Murano made a left turn from Chestnut Oak Drive onto southbound Harts Road and the two vehicles collided.

Police said the Murano flipped several times and caught fire.

The Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the Murano died at the scene and Yuma was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yuma faced up to 15 years in prison.
