Man dies when SUV careens over guardrail, submerges in Trout River, FHP says

A man died Wednesday when his SUV became submerged in the Trout River. (WJXT)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – A driver died just after midnight Wednesday in a crash on New Kings Road south of Dunn Avenue on Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the man’s SUV was traveling southbound on New Kings Road along with a car driven by a 39-year-old woman. The SUV hit the sedan and then careened over the guardrail, crashed through the tree line and ended up in the Trout River.

Troopers said the SUV became completely submerged and the man died.

The woman driving the other car was not injured.

No other information was included in the crash report.
