Man killed, 2 others hurt in crash involving semi, box truck on I-95 near Race Track Road: FHP

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A person was killed and two others were injured in a crash Thursday morning in Jacksonville on Interstate 95, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The two-vehicle wreck happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Race Track Road, troopers said.

According to FHP, a semitractor-trailer was merging onto northbound I-95 from the outside shoulder as a box truck was approaching, and that’s when the box truck rear-ended the semitractor-trailer.

The box truck passenger, a 31-year-old Orlando man, died at the scene, troopers said.

Troopers said the box truck driver, a 22-year-old Jacksonville man, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The semitruck driver, a 36-year-old Homestead man, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital, according to troopers.
