A study conducted by British restaurant chain Prezzo found that over 80% of Gen Z adults between 18 to 24 years old experience some form of “menu anxiety” when faced with placing orders when dining out, according to the NY Post.

The study asked over 2,000 people from different generations how relaxed they felt while eating out. The results showed around 86% of Gen Z adults admitted to suffering from “menu anxiety” when dining in restaurants -- compared to 67% of all respondents, the NY Post reported.

Over 30% of those young adults reported feeling so anxious that they’d opt for someone else to place their orders.

The study says the anxiety is created by the cost of meals and diners concerned about finding something to grub on the menu or regretting what they ordered altogether.

The NY Post also mentioned another study that was conducted in the United States that found similar results showing three in 10 Americans experience “menu anxiety” with Gen Z adults taking the lead for being more nervous than older generations.
