JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old man on Tuesday and accused him of second-degree felony murder following the death of a 16-year-old boy during an attempted armed robbery last year in Brentwood.

On Nov. 17, 2023, JSO said it responded to a ShotSpotter call on 28th Street West and found 16-year-old Keon Walthall shot to death.

JSO said after looking at the evidence, detectives believe that Walthall was killed during an attempted armed robbery of an unknown victim.

As a result, Za’Qwon Walthall, whose relation to Keon was not immediately clear, was identified as the suspect who was responsible for conspiring in the robbery that resulted in the victim being shot and killed, JSO said.

Za’Qwon Walthall, who was already in jail on grand theft charges, was also charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery.
