When responders arrived, they found a vehicle had collided with a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ€“ The Jacksonville Sheriffโ€™s Office announced the agency made an arrest in a 2019 murder investigation. A spokesperson said Nehemiah Ford, 20, has been charged with murder and aggravated battery for the shooting death of a young man at a home on the 3400 block of North Pearl Street. Family members identified the victim as 24-year-old Steven Burt and said he was the father of two girls. A witness told police that it started as a street fight that spread across the Brentwood neighborhood in Jacksonville, according to police. Ford was already serving a sentence for burglary and armed possession of a controlled substance unrelated to the murder investigation when police added the new charges.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ€“ One person was shot early Sunday morning outside a gas station in the Brentwood neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโ€™s Office. The shooting was reported about 1:20 a.m. on North Main Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Police said that when the arrived to the gas station, they found a male, who had been shot in his left leg, inside the store. I am excited to have a grocery store who wants to be in District 7.โ€Gaffney said Winn-Dixie could open in early 2020. Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. has requested $850,000 in city financial incentives to open the store, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported. Residents and city leaders worried that the closure of Publix would create a food desert because the next closest supermarket is about a mile away.

Itโ€™s a priority for us our office -- a priority of my administration.โ€The city is spending millions to combat the violence problem, including new programs like Cure Violence, ShotSpotter and other high-tech crime-fighting tools. Mayor Lenny Curry and Sheriff Mike Williams are putting a lot of faith in Cure Violence, which launched in June. The cityโ€™s coordinator of Cure Violence, Damian Cook, said they have seen progress in the targeted neighborhoods even though the number of violent crimes has gone up citywide. Jefferson said violent crime is occurring all over Jacksonville, not just in areas targeted by Cure Violence. Of the 11 homicides so far in November, six of them were east of the St. Johns River -- far from the cityโ€™s normal zones for violence.

A former valedictorian at her high school in Alabama, Brianna Williams has received nine awards for her naval service and was deployed overseas twice. Crews are now in the water, searching a pond at the Southside Villas Apartments in Connection to the search for 5 year old Taylor Williams.
