3-year-old boy drowns in home pool in Beauclerc neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 3-year-old boy drowned Thursday morning in a pool at a home on Cornelia Drive in the Beauclerc area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

According to JSO, the father of the boy found him unresponsive in the pool around 11:30 a.m.

The boy was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said one of the boy’s siblings was with him and the father was also there before the incident happened. However, the dad had to go inside with one of the children.

According to JSO, the pool had a gate around it, but unfortunately, the child was able to go through it. The boy’s father was gone for a short time, police said.

Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and are currently investigating this incident.
