Jaguars ‘Stadium of the Future’ scheduled to open August 2028 Jacksonville and the Jaguars agreement explains how construction and NFL games happen simultaneously

We’re getting a better idea of the timeline for the Jacksonville Jaguars “Stadium of the Future.”
The 1st Downtown Jacksonville organization sent out a timeline on Friday along with the agreement presentation.

The proposed next steps of the process are:
June 25: Potential City Council Vote on Legislation
October 2024: NFL Owners Approval (75% needed)
February 2025: Construction begins
2025 Jaguars Season: Jaguars play in Jacksonville with 60,000+ capacity
2026 Jaguars Season: Jaguars play in Jacksonville with reduced capacity (approx. 43,500)
2027 Jaguars Season: Jaguars play one season away from Jacksonville (Location TBD)
August 2028: “Stadium of the Future” opens
The agreement secures the Jaguars stay in Jacksonville for the next 30 years.
Outgoing City Council President Ron Salem says the goal is to vote by June 25. If the council approves the plan this summer, the NFL owners will then vote on it in October.
