Darryl Daniels and Michelle Cook have both qualified to run for Clay County Sheriff No description found
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A former sheriff and a current sheriff will face off in Clay County for the 2024 election. Darryl Daniels qualified to run for the office Friday morning. The deadline to qualify is noon.
Michelle Cook qualified on June 10.
News4JAX told you last year when Daniels said he was going to try and get his job back .
A jury found Daniels not guilty on charges of tampering with evidence, attempted destruction of evidence and five counts of lying to law enforcement.
The charges stemmed from his long-term affair with a former corrections officer.
In 2020, Michelle Cook won the race against Daniels 37% to 29%.
