ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County has waived restrictions on yard debris from Hurricane Helene in unincorporated areas.
If you live in one of the municipalities in the county, contact your city waste pickup provider for more information.
The county said it will be activating its debris contractors to help with the collection.
Here are the rules the county set for placing yard waste:
Regular yard waste size and weight restrictions are waived.
Do not place yard waste in plastic bags.
Place all debris on the curb, not in the street. Do not block traffic or street access.
Do not place debris on or near utility boxes, utility lines, cable lines, telephone lines, or other obstructions.
Residents are asked to be patient as disaster debris contractors don’t operate on traditional waste collection schedules.
