JSO said the incident began when two people got into an argument when one of them pulled out a gun and started “shooting in the direction of the second individual.”

No one at the park was hurt, but Jacksonville’s City Hall building was damaged. JSO added that the building’s security guards were inside at the time.

“The unknown victim reportedly fled the area on foot, and officers have been unable to identify and/or locate him,” JSO said. However, the agency was able to locate the person who fired the shots “several blocks away.”

“Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident and there appears to be no further danger to the community, as the suspect has been detained,” officials said.
