8-year-old Lake City girl struck, killed while riding her bike in Columbia County, FHP says The driver, a 38-year-old man from Miami, was arrested following the crash

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol said an 8-year-old girl from Lake City died on Friday night after she was struck by an oncoming driver in Columbia County.
According to FHP, the crash took place around 7 p.m. on US 90.

The driver, a 38-year-old man from Miami, was heading east on the roadway when he hit the girl while she was riding her bike and continued driving.
The 8-year-old was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.
Following the crash, the driver was located and arrested, FHP said.
