Woman hit, killed while lying in parking lot in front of warehouse in Palatka
PALATKA, Fla. โ Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly accident that occurred in the parking lot of Beck Wholesale Parts in Palatka. The crash report shows a man driving a van through the parking lot ran over a woman who was lying in the lot around 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Investigators wrote that they donโt know why the woman was there. There was no age or city listed for the woman who was killed. Bradford County man booked into Clay County jail on DUI manslaughter charge
A 26-year-old man was booked Tuesday afternoon into the Clay County jail on a charge of DUI manslaughter. According to an FHP report from Oct. 11, 2015, Joshua Gabriel Barron was driving on State Road 21 near Keystone Heights just after midnight when he crossed the center line and struck a car head-on. That driver died and Barron was seriously injured. Troopers at the time were investigating whether alcohol was involved in the crash. Barronโs last known address is in Starke.

FHP: Deadly crash on I-95
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on I-95 near Emerson Street, Thursday night. Florida Highway Patrol says a car driving in the center lane heading northbound moved in front of a tractor-trailer. The truck crashed into the back of the car, flipping it before it came to a stop on the interstateโs shoulder. According to Highway Patrol, the male driver and female passenger were both ejected from the car. Northbound lanes are back open on I-95, after being shut down for roughly five hours.

FHP: Car plunges into river after crash on Dames Point Bridge
A car that went off the Dames Point Bridge Saturday night was pulled out of the river Sunday morning. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A car was pulled out of the St. Johns River Sunday morning after the vehicle went over the side of the concrete wall of the Dames Point Bridge following a crash Saturday night with another car in the southbound lanes, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said the 27-year-old driver of the vehicle that went over the side was able to exit his vehicle and had only minor injuries. All southbound lanes on I-295 were closed for an hour while the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department got the driver out of the water and police cleared the scene. The next morning, the vehicle that went off the side of the bridge was pulled from the water.

Driver who left I-10 in Baker County pulled from creek
GLEN ST. MARY, Fla. โ A car drove off Interstate 10 just east of the Glen St Mary exit in Baker County at midday Wednesday and went into Little St. Marys River. The driver, a woman who troopers believe may have had a medical issue behind the wheel, was rescued from the water and treated at the scene. There was a second crash on I-10 after the initial incident. This story will be updated when FHP releases its preliminary report.
1 dead in crash on I-95 near Florida-Georgia border
NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. โ A Georgia man is dead after an accident about 10 p.m. Friday night on Interstate-95 just before the Florida-Georgia border, according to Florida Highway Patrol. A 41-year-old man driving an SUV in the far right lane at mile marker 381, just south of the Florida-Georgia line, came to stop in a northbound lane. Thatโs when a second vehicle, driven by a 37-year-old man with a 59-year-old passenger inside, crashed into the stopped car. The second carโs driver and passenger, both from Canada, sustained minor injuries. The FHP says itโs unclear at this time why the SUV came to an abrupt stop on the highway.

St. Augustine man dies in fiery head-on crash
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla โ A man is dead after hitting another car head-on in St. Johns County around 8:20 on Friday night. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving south when he crashed into a car heading north, causing his car to go up in flames. The two vehicles were driving in opposite directions on A1A, just north of Milliken Lane, when they crashed into each other. The driver of the other car has minor injuries. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the driver veered into oncoming traffic.

17-year-old girl killed in crash with tree in Putnam County
WELAKA, Fla. โ A teenage girl has died after a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night in the town of Welaka. FHP investigators said the girl was 17-years-old. The crash happened as she was traveling west on County Road 308 B near the intersection of Foerster Lane when she the vehicle went onto the right shoulder, according to FHP. The driver then steered back onto the roadway, but she lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the carโs right side. The crash report shows the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Palm Coast woman crossing US-1 struck, killed by car
PALM COAST, Fla. โ A woman driving south on U.S. 1 in Flagler County struck and killed a pedestrian just after 9 p.m. Saturday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 55-year-old pedestrian died at the scene. Troopers think the woman, a Palm Coast resident, was trying to cross the highway just south of Royal Palms Parkway. The 33-year-old Palatka driver stopped and was cooperating with authorities. FHP is investigating the incident.
FHP: 2 lanes blocked on I-295 at 103rd Street
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ An accident involving injuries shut down two Southbound lanes on I-295, North of 103rd street, early Friday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol. FHP says the right and center lanes are both blocked. Drivers should consider avoiding the area if possible. Police say at least one person was injured in this incident.

School honors Middleburg teens who died in crash
Luke Kennedy, 16, and Parker Rowley, 17, are being remembered as inseparable friends. On Friday, they were in a crash that involved a pickup truck on State Road 16. Monday night, members of their school -- St. Johns Classical Academy -- honored their lives with a candlelight vigil. Itโs been a heartbreaking couple of days for the people that cared for and loved Parker Rowley (17) and Luke Kennedy (16). The two best friends died in car crash Friday.
FHP: Teen killed in head-on crash off State Road 16
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. โ A 17-year-old Clay County boy was killed Friday night in a head-on crash on State Road 16 at Francis Road in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The Middleburg teen was a passenger in a car driven by a 16-year-old boy, also from Middleburg, the FHP report showed. According to the crash report, the 16-year-old driving on State Road 16 about 8:15 p.m. Friday ignored the right of way of a pickup truck at the intersection with Francis Road. The resulting head-on crash killed the 17-year-old passenger of the car and seriously injured the 16-year-old driver. All lanes of SR-16 between I-95 and Pacetti Road were blocked in both directions while troopers investigated the crash.

2 people pushing disabled vehicle on I-295 struck and killed
Troopers said a disabled vehicle was in the center lane of the interstate around 2 a.m. The passenger of the disabled car and the good Samaritan both died at the scene, according to the accident report. Both the driver of the disabled vehicle that was being pushed and the driver of the car that struck it, sustained minor injuries. FHP traffic homicide is continuing to investigate the crash. Deadly night: Florida Highway Patrol investigating 3 fatal crashes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating three separate fatal crashes in Duval County in just two hours. The first crash happened around 10 Thursday night when a car hit a pedestrian at the Dunn Avenue entrance ramp on I-295 northbound. The crash report shows a 62-year-old man was walking across State Road 134 when a car traveling eastbound on State Road 134 hit him. The crash report shows both vehicles were traveling eastbound on State road 134 veering onto US-17. Names of the drivers involved in the crashes have been withheld by Florida Highway Patrol, as is standard procedure.
FHP: Driver of semitruck hauling mail injured in crash on I-10
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The driver of a semitractor-trailer hauling U.S. mail was injured in a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 10 just east of Cassat Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The driver of the semitruck โ a 62-year-old Lithia Springs, Georgia, woman โ suffered serious injuries in the crash, which happened shortly after 4 a.m., troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling east on I-10 when the driver lost control and struck the center concrete barrier. Multiple eastbound and westbound lanes of I-10 were blocked following the crash. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Teen airlifted to hospital after crash in Nassau County
HILLIARD, Fla. โ A teenage boy was airlifted to a Jacksonville hospital following a two-vehicle crash Saturday night near Hilliard, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Just before 9 p.m., according to FHP, a 35-year-old Hilliard man and a 13-year-old Hilliard boy were in a pickup truck traveling west on Murrhee Road, approaching U.S. 1. The tractor-trailer spun through the roadโs median and across the southbound lanes before finally coming to a rest on the west shoulder of U.S. 1. The Highway Patrol said the teenage passenger in the pickup was airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries. Troopers said the driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and the 29-year-old Jacksonville man driving the tractor-trailer was not hurt.

FHP: Pedestrian struck, killed in late night accident
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A pedestrian was struck and killed on Beach Boulevard while crossing Beach Boulevard on Saturday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The Highway Patrol said an SUV was traveling east on Beach Boulevard near Thalia Road around 10 p.m. when that pedestrian stepped out in front of the moving vehicle. Troopers said SUV then collided with the pedestrian, who was not at an intersection. The pedestrian, a 37-year-old Jacksonville man, was transported to a hospital, where he died, troopers said. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver of the SUV, a 32-year-old Jacksonville man, and the two passengers, a 10-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, were not injured.

FHP: Driver killed in Friday night crash in Nassau County
HILLIARD, Fla. โ The Florida Highway Patrol said a 25-year-old driver died Friday night after swerving out of her lane on County Road 108 in Nassau County. That 25-year-old was driving eastbound on County Road 108 around 9:10 p.m. Friday when she strayed out of her lane and struck a car with two people headed westbound. The driver of the first car died and the other driver and passenger both sustained serious injuries. According to FHP, no one involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.

St. Johns County deputy, another driver injured in head-on crash
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. A St. Johns County deputy was injured Friday night when her cruiser collided head-on with a truck on State Road 13. After Hagan Ace Hardware heard that local Florida Highway Patrol troopers were being eaten alive by gnats and mosquitoes while stopping traffic at checkpoints coming into Florida on I-95, the hardware store company decided to step in. Owner Bill Hagan made a call to the owners of โNo Natz,โ a spray that repels mosquitoes, biting flies and more, who sent Hagan Ace Hardware 40 bottles of No Natz and over 60 bottles of spray hand sanitizer. The supplies were given to the first responders in our community! Our Director of Store Operations, Jacob Hagan, delivered it to them on Wednesday afternoon.

3 vehicle crash blocks I-95 in St. Johns County for hours
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. โ Hours after a pileup involving two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck pulling a trailer, Interstate 95 at State Road 16 has fully reopened. The northbound lanes were blocked from County Road 207 to State Road 16 from before dawn until almost noon after the crash and a resulting 100-gallon diesel fuel spill, causing a massive traffic backup in St. Johns County through rush hour and beyond. Then materials cleaned up from the wreck caught on fire, causing the highway to close again for another 45 minutes. According to the FHP report, a big rig rear-ended a slow-moving big rig in front of it just about 5:30 a.m. Then a pickup truck struck the rear of the second trailerWith six miles of I-95 closed for more than six hours, St. Johns County deputies diverted I-95 northbound traffic onto C.R. Once the wreck cleared, truckloads of sand were trucked onto and spread on the area affected by the fuel spill.

Gusts take down trees, leave thousands in dark
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Wind gusts of 50, 60 to over 70 mph across our viewing area Thursday night took down a few trees, dozens of power lines and littered yards with limbs and other debris. Trees were blown down on a mobile home and a kindergarten in Orange Park. Several more trees and power lines in were down in Clay and Bradford counties. Man accused of killing Florida trooper identified
According to multiple media reports, officials on Thursday identified the man who they say shot and killed the trooper as 28-year-old Franklin Reed III. He said a passing police officer from Riviera Beach fatally shot Reed. Riviera Beach is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Palm City. Spaulding said Bullock is the 49th Florida trooper to die in the line of duty since the agency was founded 80 years ago.
