Man fatally struck by SUV on highway in Columbia County

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol said a 50-year-old man was fatally struck by an SUV on Highway 441 in Columbia County on Saturday morning.

Officials said the SUV was travelling north on Highway 441 near Northwest Meeks Street when the man was walking in the immediate path of the SUV.

The SUV struck the man, and the driver came to a controlled stop in the lane.

FHP said it is still investigating the incident.
