BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – Memories like karaoke sessions in the car and cupcake smashing are all that’s left for 12-year-old Breelynn Youmans after her mother, Tiffany Carter, died in a car crash Saturday in Baker County.
Breelynn was in the car when her mother lost control on U.S. 90 near County Road 250A. They hydroplaned and hit some trees.
Carter, 31, died at the scene.
Her family created a makeshift memorial at the crash site that included some of Carter’s favorite things, like Coca-Cola drinks.
“I’m just glad she didn’t have to suffer the pain,” said Breelynn, who suffered a broken shoulder, fractured ribs and bruised lungs. “Very scary, traumatizing.”
Breelynn wanted to thank the community for helping her family, especially on Wednesday, which would have been her mother’s 32nd birthday.
A birthday that probably would’ve included spontaneous dancing, which Carter loved to do.
“We were outside at our new house, and the dryer was making noises. She just started dancing. She went with the dryer noise,” Youmans said.
The 12-year-old said her mom, who had three siblings, had a funny personality but was also strict with her and her brother.
She said the memories she’ll cherish the most are just having her around.
A funeral for Carter will be held on Saturday. Click here to support a GoFundMe created to help the family with funeral expenses.
