ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A luxury contractor is suing former Jacksonville Jaguars star linebacker Myles Jack, claiming he abruptly shut down a million-dollar renovation project at his St. Johns County home and left behind more than $250,000 in unpaid invoices.
The News4JAX I-TEAM obtained body camera video from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office showing deputies ordering workers with AY Luxury Designs off Jack’s property at his request.
In the video, deputies inform owner Amany Yousef and her crew that they are being trespassed and would be arrested if they return. Yousef is seen visibly confused.
“The law is [that] if the owner doesn’t want you on the property, he can issue a trespass warning,” a deputy explains in the video.
Just months earlier, Yousef shared a lighthearted Instagram video alongside Jack, excited to work with him on his backyard renovation. She says the job included a custom driveway, outdoor kitchen, pool upgrades, and even a gazebo.
But after months of work and repeated change orders, Yousef says Jack suddenly cut ties.
“We just want our name cleared and the money that’s owed,” she told the I-TEAM.
Following the incident with deputies, Yousef filed a lien against Jack’s property for more than $250,000.
Jack’s side: Overcharging and poor workmanship
Jack’s attorney, Ed Whelan, disputes the claims. He says Jack was being overcharged and points to independent reports citing construction problems, including missing footers and permits.
“My recommendation is not to allow the contractor to come in and fix some obvious problems,” Whelan said. “We can either first have an independent engineer evaluate, and that’s what we’re doing right now, and advise us what needs to be done. I doubt these folks have the ability to do it.”
Yousef strongly denies that, insisting her work meets industry standards.
She showed the I-TEAM pictures of the footers installed during the project and other relevant project permits.
“I stand behind my work wholeheartedly,” she said. “If there is anything, and I mean anything, that even comes up subpar on that project, I would love the opportunity to go there myself, to rip it up and to build it for free the exact way it’s supposed to be done.”
Fallout for the contractor
Yousef told the I-TEAM the fallout has devastated her business. She says she and her mother have both received threatening messages online.
“[We’ve suffered] tremendously. Financially. We have old clients leaving us bad reviews. We have random people leaving us bad reviews.”
Her lawsuit accuses Jack and the MDJ Revocable Trust of breach of contract, wrongful termination, and refusing to pay for completed work. She is seeking damages and foreclosure of her lien on the property.
The case was filed last month in St. Johns County. No hearings have been set.
