CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – An 8th-grade student at Lakeside Junior High has been suspended from school after they threatened to bring a weapon to campus on Oct. 1, according to Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook.
Cook said her staff received multiple tips on Tuesday afternoon and began investigating the incident, which led to the student being placed in CCSO custody.
“We have conducted an assessment and determined the student does not have a firearm or have access to one and there is no credible threat to the school at this time,” Cook said.
The sheriff added that, out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement will be at the school on Wednesday.
“We thank everyone for all the tips and information provided which helped us quickly resolve the situation. As always, we take every tip / threat seriously,” the sheriff said.
