JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars announced Tuesday that WR/CB Travis Hunter will miss the rest of the 2025-2026 season after undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his knee.
The news comes about two weeks after the team placed their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on injured reserve after he reportedly suffered a non-contact injury in practice coming out of the team’s bye week.

The Jaguars said the surgery, which went successfully, occurred earlier on Tuesday to repair the lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in Hunter’s right knee and was done by Dr. Dan Cooper and Jaguars team doctor, Dr. Kevin Kaplan in Dallas.
“Hunter, 22, will miss the remainder of the 2025 season, but is expected to return within six months to full football activities,” the team said.
The former Heisman winner’s season ends after eight games in which he accumulated 28 receptions, 298 yards, and one receiving touchdown on offense, while also accruing 15 tackles and three pass breakups on defense.
According to ESPN, Hunter played 67% of the team’s offensive snaps and 36% of the defensive snaps in the games he played in.
The update from the team comes on the heels of a tough road loss to the Houston Texans, but also coincides with the news that tight end Brenton Strange has had his 21-day practice window opened after spending the last five weeks on injured reserve with a hip injury, meaning he could potentially return to the lineup as soon as this week.
Now that Hunter is out of the fold for the rest of the year, the team’s wide receiver room will be carried by trade deadline acquisition Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Tim Patrick, and Dyami Brown.
Jacksonville (5-4) matches up against the Los Angeles Chargers (7-3) at EverBank Stadium this upcoming Sunday.
