The chain took to its new Instagram account on Thursday to announce its comeback to the River City, years after the venue’s closure.
“River City get ready. Fat Tuesday has entered the chat,” the announcement reel said.
Fat Tuesdays will take over the former Rain Dogs Five Points location at 1045 Park Street. The Jacksonville staple known for its vibrant community and live music closed in December 2024.
No opening date has been announced, but we reached out to the company to learn more about the new location. We will update this story once we receive a response.
The Jacksonville Landing was the first home for a Fat Tuesday’s location in Jacksonville back when the riverfront shopping center first opened in 1987.
According to a 2019 Florida Times-Union report, Fat Tuesday left The Landing after the venue’s management chose not to renew the bar’s 10-year lease, saying it wanted to shift from a younger crowd to an older clientele.
Until the Jacksonville location officially gets the party started, you would have to travel to Gainesville for the nearest location.
